As a business owner, I believe it is my duty to share with others the wealth that I’m privileged to have. I’m not only talking about financial wealth, but also the wealth of knowledge, the wealth of encouragement, and the wealth of good will. When we pour into others, our life and business prospers abundantly.
Mission 500 challenges us to give our very best. For 2012, the three charities that we will sponsor this year are:
USACares.org – USA Cares exists to help bear the burdens of service by providing post-9/11 military families with financial and advocacy support in their time of need. Assistance is provided to all branches of service, all components, all ranks while protecting the privacy and dignity of those military families and veterans who request our help.
Stop Child Trafficking Now – Stop Child Trafficking has chosen to fund a bold, new approach, one that addresses the demand side of child sex trafficking by targeting buyers/predators for prosecution and conviction. While over 260 organizations are currently focused on rescuing children, until the demand side is addressed, the supply will always exist. Few people know that virtually no convictions have occurred in the U.S. in the last 10 years, thus this heinous crime grows.
Operation Christmas Child – Last year, 8 million children received shoe boxes filled with toys, toiletries, and other necessities.
Our goal is to raise $500 for each charity mentioned above and to fill 500 shoe boxes for Operation Christian Child. Whoa, that’s a BIG goal…however I know we can do it. I’m confident that other business owners will be challenged and want to align with us to reach this goal.
So Kelli, how are you going to raise the money?
Great question! All monies received through personal affiliate income, sponsorships, and advertisements will go towards reaching our Mission 500 goals. When a business or organization chooses to advertise on our websites, or sponsors a show on DivaTalkRadio, they will decide where to apply their money.
How are you going to fill 500 shoe boxes?
We are putting the challenge out there so that you can have an opportunity to give. It’s a great project to do with the family. When we teach our kids how to give unconditionally, they not only learn a life lesson but also get excited to go shopping for others. They love coloring pictures or writing letters to put inside the shoe box. So, I’m hoping that families and organizations will join us to fill shoe boxes. It’s also a great team project. All we ask is that you take pictures and/or take video on your Flip cam while your filling the shoe box(es). Send us your pictures/videos and we will post them across our websites. Whatever number of shoe boxes your choose to fill will go towards our goal of filling 500 shoe boxes.
Because of the efforts of many wonderful and amazing people, we were able to fill 484 shoe boxes throughout the US last year (2011). That represents, 484 children who received a Christmas. All I can say is YOU ROCK!! Let’s work together to meet our goal of 500 in 2012! Are you with me?
