My name is Tommy Parsons and I have completed all of my course work as a graduate student at The University of Alabama Graduate School; with a concentration in Interactive Technology. I will be graduating in August 2010 and look forward to using my talents to open my own small business social media consulting company named virtech business solutions which will focus on “small business media solutions and accounting software setup’.
I am currently a corporate controller with over 25 years of large corporate business experience. I look forward to doing my “capstone project”(thesis) here at The Business and Learning Internship Program as a writing assistant and look forward to learning new ideas hoping also to contribute to those new ideas. Without a doubt this way of communicating will only enhance the “groundswell” and will be how companies communicate in the future. Technology has revolutionized business; now it must revolutionize learning.
In the 21st century, people have to learn more than ever before. Especially for global organizations, live classroom-based training is becoming too costly and cumbersome. The need to transform how organizations learn points to a more modern, efficient, and flexible alternative: eLearning. The mission of corporate eLearning is to supply the workforce with an up-to-date and cost-effective program that yields motivated, skilled, and loyal knowledge workers.
On a personal note, I am married to Nancy and we have 2 children Stephanie and Todd, and 2 grandchildren, Savannah and Cooper.
