How an iPad Can Replace All Your Technology

Modern technology has both expanded modern possibilities to impressive new heights and made it easier to access all of those possibilities. The iPad is one of the best examples of this, as this powerful little tablet can literally replace all the technology you may need in your life. I know that sounds out of control- but it’s true.

Your Stereo

Obviously, there are plenty of built in music features in the iPad (this is Apple we’re talking about). However, there are also some other amazing apps that allow you to access music on the fly. One of the greatest is Pandora One, the app at the epicenter of the “music genome project,” that allows for constant streaming of top-quality music.

There’s also other applications like Ghostly Discovery that allows you to stream music according to your mood.

Your Gaming Console

The iPad marketplace is flooding with games. Some of these seem more designed for a mobile platform, such as “Angry Birds,” a popular game that uses the touch interface of the iPad to great effect. However, other programs are just as good as what you’ll find through PC or console gaming. Dungeon Hunter HD, an adventure-RPG with gorgeous graphics, Civilization Revolution, a real-time strategy that lets you take an ancient culture from the nomadic lifestyle into the space age, and the ever-famous time-killer Plants vs Zombies are just a few examples.

Your Phone

The iPad can be turned into an incredibly effective and cheap phone. With the application known as Line2, you can add a phone line to your iPad for ten dollars per month. It comes with all the features of an advanced mobile phone system, and it can function off of either a 3G connection or local WiFi.

You can also utilize applications such as Skype to not only use your phone, but also use your desktop/laptop as a place to video chat and send instant messages.

Your TV and Cable Subscription

While iPad users are still aching for access to Hulu (and Hulu has made some big promises), there are some other great options that let you watch your favorite shows. The ABC player, as one example, lets you watch recent episodes of the entire ABC lineup. Verizon FIOS recently came up with a new system where you can order movies on demand, and access them on your various devices. This may not completely replace your need for a subscription, but it’s just one added bonus of having an iPad.

Your DVD Player and Entire DVD Collection

With the iPad’s big, beautiful screen, watching movies is only logical. You can upload your own videos on the iPad, sure, but why bother? With options like Netflix, the world’s greatest way to access movies and TV shows, you’ve got an unlimited library at your fingertips constantly. Not to mention, if you’re traveling you’ll have your very own “theater” so entertain you and possibly kids if they’re tagging along.

Your Computer

Just about anything you can do on your computer can be done on the iPad, given the right applications.

You can access the internet, and almost all forms of multimedia are now accessible. You can create documents with programs like the iWork suite or GoDocs. You can hop onto all your favorite social networking sites. You can easily organize your entire newscast, stock reports, and weather updates with programs like Flipboard. You can even do some fairly advanced graphic design with programs like Adobe Ideas, a free app that lets you modify photos, draw pictures, and otherwise drop into creative mode.

There was once a time that people dreamed of having a single piece of technology that addressed all the needs of the modern person. For those not paying attention: That dream has come true.
