Don’t Ever Procrastinate!

Your career is often your future. What you are doing right now can affect your current and future career. Spending too much time on one aspect of one project could mean you overrun that project and the rest of your work does not get done.  Or if you are looking to change career or find a new one, not managing your time correctly can have an adverse effect.

So how do you manage your time wisely?

Firstly become aware of the time that you have. A week has 168 hours, out of that about 12 hours a day are used for eating/sleeping and misc. That leaves you with 84 hours that you can work and make changes.  Now some people may have a little more if they sleep less, but I don’t recommend that!  So think about it, 84 hours to do everything you need to do. It’s actually quite a lot. However how many of us waste those hours?

Remember the one thing we can never get back is time. Think about it, every minute, every day we are getting closer to the end of our life – yes may seems bleak but it’s true, so why would you waste the time you have?  Think about everything you do and how useful it is to getting closer to your goal. If you decide it is not then don’t do it! It can be that simple, or at least become more simple.

My top tips are:

  • Do out a To Do List
  • Stick to it
  • Cross of everything you do
  • Start with the things you don’t want to do first and get them out of the way – often time they are not as bad as you may think
  • Get into the habit of working your to do list
  • If you need to carry things over until the next day that’s fine – don’t waste time fretting over what you did not get done. Soon you will build the habit up and use your time more wisely!

The most important tip though is don’t procrastinate, you’re loosing time if you do that. Don’t ever procrastinate!
